If you feel sick with no energy during exercise, you may need to change some of your diet and workout habits. Your eating patterns before exercise can affect how you feel during your routine. Also, certain types of exercise can make you feel nauseated as you work out. Talk to your doctor if you continue experiencing bouts of sickness during your exercise routines.
Time Frame
Timing your meals before exercise can help combat the sick and tired feeling you get during your workout. Eat a small snack within an hour before exercising, small meals two to three hours before exercising and large meals a minimum of three to four hours before your workout. If you eat a meal too close to your workout, you are likely to feel sluggish and experience stomach discomfort.
Effects
You should not avoid food altogether if you have a tendency to feel low energy levels during exercise. If you avoid food before you workout, you may feel lightheaded and your lack of energy will undermine your performance during exercise. Ideally, eat a small snack made up of carbohydrates one to two hours before you exercise. Meal examples include a piece of fruit, fruit shake, granola bar, sports drink, bagel or fruit yogurt.
Significance
If you are not consuming enough water before and during exercise, you may experience symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. You should not wait until you feel thirsty to drink. Instead, sip water before you begin exercise as well as take a water break every 15 to 20 minutes during your workout routine.
Considerations
Another possible reason for you feeling unwell during exercise is that you are suffering from motion sickness. If you are doing abdominal exercises as part of your workout, you may feel symptoms of nausea if you have your eyes closed or wandering over the ceiling. Instead, look at a fixed point as you complete the abs workout.
