Victims of physical attacks rarely imagine being the target of an attacker. Be prepared and protect yourself. Learning how to use self-defense techniques can provide the necessary survival skills to protect you when your safety is threatened. When confronted with fear and stress, simple defense techniques that are well learned and embedded into your muscle memory can turn an attack on you into a bad day for the attacker.

Hands

An extremely effective way to stop an attacker with your hand is to attack their eyes, which are a vulnerable target. Place your hand in a claw position and gouge the eyes of your attacker as hard and deep as you can. Also, stab your fingers directly into one or both eyes. If you are being held by the attacker, grab his head with both hands and drive your thumbs into his eye sockets.

Legs

Attackers frequently look for women who appear weak and vulnerable. The most efficient places for a woman to kick an attacker are the groin and shin areas so, without a doubt, the groin kick is a valuable technique in close quarters. Also, the shinbone is made of responsive nerves and, when struck, can leave an attacker immobile and make him loosen his grip. Keep kicking until the attacker lets go of you and then shout and try to run away.

Feet

Try to aim for the sensitive areas on the attacker that cause a great deal of pain when pressed or struck. Stomp on the top of the attacker's foot in order to distract and inflict pain. Immobilizing your attacker can give you the advantage that you need to escape from harm's way.

Objects

Look for something that is instantly accessible to assist in your defense. Carry your keys in your hand and use them to stab the attacker's eyes. You can use anything from a rock to a hot drink and throw it directly into the attacker's face and run.
