Pulling eyebrow hair to create a better shape for your eyebrows can open up your whole face and give you a new, more polished look. Tweezers are the best tools to pull eyebrow hairs with, and those with a slanted tip will help you do the job. While initially painful, pulling eyebrow hair goes fairly quickly, and once you're done, you can enjoy nicely shaped brows for weeks at a time. Knowing the correct way to do it will help the process go quicker, and give you better results.
Step 1
Plan the shape of your eyebrow. The best way to shape your eyebrows is to draw an imaginary line straight from your tear duct up to your eyebrow; this is where they should begin. Draw an imaginary line straight from your pupil to your eyebrow; this is where the arch should occur. Draw a diagonal line from the outside corner of your eye to your eyebrow; this is where it should end. All hairs past these lines should be pulled.
Step 2
Grasp one hair at a time to be precise in your pulling. Do not grab multiple hairs at once; it could be painful and leave you with an undesirable shape. Instead, grasp the hair, and pull out in the direction of the hair growth.
Step 3
Shape from the bottom only. The top portion of your eyebrow is important to keeping your eyebrows looking natural. Over-tweezing can leave your face looking bare and washed out, so try not to be overzealous while pulling out eyebrow hair.
Step 4
Apply an ice cube to the area you are pulling eyebrow hair from, if you find that it is too painful. The ice cube will numb the area so that you aren't able to feel the pain as acutely. You may find that pulling the hair in rapid succession makes you sneeze. Take a break before you resume pulling hairs.
Step 5
Use a small comb or mascara brush to brush all the eyebrow hairs upward. This will help you recognize any stray hairs that still need to be pulled. Once you've cleaned them up, use nail scissors to trim any hair that sticks up past the eyebrow line on top of your eyebrows. Comb them back into place for a neat and shapely brow.
