How to Grill a 3 Pound Pork Tenderloin

Pork tenderloin is one of the most popular cuts of pork because of its leanness and flavor. It is taken from the back of the pig just above the spareribs and is the cut of meat used to make pork chops. Pork tenderloin is easy to cooked on the grill. Cooking time generally depends on the weight. A three-pound pork tenderloin is large for this type of cut, and the cook time on the meat is likely to be much longer than similar cuts of smaller size.

Step 1

Preheat your grill on high heat.

Step 2

Apply any seasonings to your pork tenderloin. This could be in a marinade form, which can be applied 30 minutes to 12 hours prior to cooking. It is most effective when applied overnight. You can also use salt, pepper, garlic and dried or fresh herbs. Dry and herbs seasonings can be applied just minutes before grilling.

Step 3

Place the tenderloin on the grill and cook for about 50 minutes, turning every five minutes so that it cooks evenly on all sides. Continue cooking until the juices coming from the tenderloin run clear.

Step 4

Remove from the grill and wrap in aluminum foil for 10 minutes. This helps cool the meat without it drying out, and it lets the seasonings continue to absorb into the meat. After 10 minutes the roast is ready to carve.
