Removing facial hair has been a practice in the aesthetic beauty practices for men since the invention of blades. Unkempt facial hair on a male's face can detract from one's unique pleasing facial attributes. By properly managing this ever-impending growth of facial hair, men must shave on a day-to-day basis. Since this aspect of hygiene is such a large part of a man's lifestyle, it is important to shave properly to consistently produce the best results.
Proper Shaving Technique
Step 1
Prime your face with water before starting your shaving routine. Before you can safely begin shaving, it is important to have a base of lubrication to allow the blade to glide across the face more smoothly.
Step 2
Dispense the adequate amount of shaving creme into your hand. The amount of shaving creme needed to shave your face depends on the amount estimated to cover the hair removal area.
Step 3
Wet your blade under water to once again prime for lubrication. Begin guiding the blade on your face in smooth short strokes evenly across your entire face. Always shave with the facial hair with down-strokes. Remember to wash your blade off in water after every few strokes to account for more consistent and even shaving. Also keep in mind that fewer strokes means less irritation.
Step 4
Use water to wash the remainder of your shaving creme and trimmed facial hair off of your face. Finish by using a towel to dry off the residual water left on your face.
Step 5
Spread your desired lotion on your face to adequately hydrate your freshly shaved skin. Because shaving can sometimes prove very irritating to the skin, it is important to rehydrate your face with any moisture that may have been lost when dragging a blade across it. This can also prove to be very soothing if you have unfortunately been the victim of any kind of razor burn.
Tips and Warnings
- Use oil free moisturizer to prevent from breaking out from the negative combination of blade stress and dehydration from shaving.
- Never shave while driving.
