Pork chops supply you with protein and important minerals like calcium, phosphorus and potassium. Extra virgin olive oil supplies you with more heart healthy monounsaturated fat than any other oil. To get these beneficial nutrients in your diet, bake breaded pork chops in extra virgin olive oil. Avoid deep-frying. The Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Family & Consumer Sciences says using extra virgin olive oil for deep-frying may be unsafe because it has a low smoke point. For the best flavor and health benefits, drizzle extra virgin olive oil on the pork chops five minutes before taking them out of the oven.

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2

Wash your hands and dry them with a paper towel.

Step 3

Beat the egg well in a medium-size bowl, using a fork. Add the milk and beat the two ingredients together to combine them.

Step 4

Put the French fried onions on the dinner plate and spread them out evenly.

Step 5

Place the small casserole dish on top of the fried onions. Apply pressure to the casserole dish by leaning into it. With a press-and-release motion, rock the dish from side to side to crush the French fried onions.

Step 6

Put the breadcrumbs on the plate with the crushed fried onions and mix the two together. Add the onion powder, black pepper and salt and mix to blend.

Step 7

Put the light olive oil in the baking pan and spread the oil out evenly with a paper towel.

Step 8

Dip a pork chop into the egg and milk. Hold it above the bowl for a few seconds to let any excess egg and milk drip back into the bowl.

Step 9

Put the pork chop on the plate of breadcrumbs and French fried onions and coat both sides of the pork chop with the crumbs.

Step 10

Place the breaded pork chop in the greased pan and gently turn it over so both sides of the pork chop are coated with oil.

Step 11

Bread the other pork chops by first dipping them into the egg and milk, then dipping them into the breadcrumbs and crushed fried onions.

Step 12

Place the remaining breaded pork chops in the pan and turn each one over, as you did the first pork chop.

Step 13

Put the pan of pork chops in the preheated oven and let them bake for 15 minutes.

Step 14

Turn each pork chop over and continue to bake them for another 15 minutes.

Step 15

Drizzle the extra-virgin olive oil on the pork chops. Let the chops cook for another five minutes and serve.
