Developing a redness or flushing, especially of the face, after participation in volleyball is a good indicator that you have completed a successful workout. When you play volleyball, your body produces heat and your blood circulation increases. As a result, oxygenated blood rushes to your face and other body parts. This oxygenated blood carries nutrients and eliminates toxins from your skin, making for healthier skin. Redness is perfectly healthy. However, if you are uncomfortable with turning red, there are actions you can take to help prevent redness after volleyball.
Step 1
Wear cotton clothes. Cotton clothes can help keep you cool as you play volleyball. Allowing your skin to breath can help reduce signs of redness.
Step 2
Avoid wearing makeup. Makeup can clog your pores and irritate your skin as you sweat during a volleyball practice or game. If you must wear makeup, wear an oil-free brand or opt for a lightweight tinted moisturizer.
Step 3
Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water as you play volleyball. Water can help to regulate your body temperature, which can reduce flushing and sweating. Spray or pour water on your face and neck to help stay cool as well.
Step 4
Practice outside. Practice when the temperatures are cooler. Practice early mornings outside as well as on cool spring or fall days.
