Facial hair starts to appear in men when they go through puberty and it continues to grow for the rest of their lives. For some men, it grows at a rapid pace and for others, it is a slow process. Whichever category you fall into, there are several steps you can take to remove it. The removal options can be short-term or they can give you a more permanent effect.
Step 1
Get a laser treatment done by a qualified professional. In laser treatments, a high-powered beam of light targets melanin, which gives hair its color. The follicles then die and the hairs falls out. This is a more permanent solution, but it can take several treatments to get that kind of result, and it doesn't work on light-colored hair.
Step 2
Get electrolysis done. In this procedure, an electrologist will insert a small needle into the hair roots and an electrical charge will be sent to the tip. The root will then die and the hair will fall out. This can also give you a more permanent fix but it can take several treatments.
Step 3
Shave your face with a new razor and shaving cream. Wet your face with warm water and apply shaving cream to the areas where you want to remove hair. Run the razor across your skin in long, smooth strokes. Wash the razor off in between each stroke. Wash your face and apply after-shave or moisturizer when you are done.
Step 4
Pluck out hairs with tweezers. Place your index finger and thumb on your skin with the hair that you want removed in the middle. Tighten the skin and grasp the hair with the tweezers close to the skin. Pull the hair straight out in a steady motion. Pluck out all the hairs you want removed. Do not yank on the hairs as this can cause them to break off.
Step 5
Use a home waxing kit. Apply the wax to your face with the applicator in an area where you have hair. Let it set up and place the cloth that comes with the kit over the area. Smooth it out and pull briskly in a downward motion. Follow the same procedure in all the areas where you have hair. Wash your face and apply moisturizer.
Step 6
Use a depilatory cream designed for the face. Wash your face and apply the cream to a patch of hair. Let it set up for as long as the manufacturer recommends. Wipe off the cream and the hair with a damp wash cloth. Keep applying and wiping off the hair until you've removed it all. Wash your face and apply moisturizer.
Tips and Warnings
- Use flexible tipped razors to get a closer shave. They follow the contour of your face. You can also get waxed at a spa or salon if you do not want to do it at home. When you wipe off a depilatory cream, go against the grain of your hair.
- Make sure to keep depilatory creams away from your mouth and eyes.
