A trampoline is a good cardio tool. The bouncing motion will help to elevate your heart rate, allowing blood and oxygen to enter your blood vessels. The trampoline provides resistance to the force of gravity on your body, which pushes it back into the air. Since the resistance is created by springs, it is important to make sure they are always in excellent working condition. If you notice the trampoline springs start to show wear and tear, you must take steps to replace them as soon as possible.
Step 1
Spot check the trampoline to determine how many springs you need to replace. If you notice that one is starting to wear down, the odds are that there are others as well. Replace all of the worn springs.
Step 2
Remove the old springs. Pull the trampoline toward the spring you need to remove until it is no longer taut. Unhook it from the trampoline.
Step 3
Measure the spring with a ruler. Make sure you note the length the spring, its width, and the size of the hooks. You will need to purchase the same size springs as you had previously.
Step 4
Purchase new springs from a sporting goods store or order them online. You can go to the sporting good store website or a website such as Funspot.com or TrampSprings.com for replacement springs (see Resources).
Step 5
Place one end of the spring into its appropriate hole in the trampoline pad. While wearing gloves, place the spring in the channel lock pliers and pull the spring to the whole in the trampoline edge. Hook it into place.
Tips and Warnings
- Get someone to help you with this, if you can. She can provide support on the other side of the trampoline as you are pulling the spring.
- Be careful when using the springs. They are extremely tight and can injure you if you are not careful. Make sure to wear protective gear.
