Getting Started
Step 1
Select the appropriate color and length of Thera-Band, based on your activity level or recommendation from your physician or therapist.
Step 2
Check the entire length of Thera-Band for tears or fraying before use. Discard any damaged Thera-Bands and start with an undamaged piece.
Step 3
Sit in a chair or clear a space to perform your exercise. Secure the Thera-Band under your feet, under a chair or around a sturdy object.
Step 4
Create slight tension by wrapping the Thera-Band around your hands. Perform your exercise.
Squat
Step 1
Grasp both ends of the Thera-Band and place the middle portion on the floor in front of you. Stand in the middle of your Thera-Band with your feet hip-width apart.
Step 2
Create tension in the Thera-Band by wrapping both ends around your hand once. Grasp the ends of the Thera-Band at hip level.
Step 3
Inhale while bending the knees and lowering the body. Continue to keep the hands at hip level.
Step 4
Exhale, extend the legs and return to standing position.
Step 5
Repeat until you complete 12 to 15 repetitions.
Lateral Raise
Step 1
Place the center of the band under both feet. Grab both ends of the band with your palms facing forward and elbows at your sides.
Step 2
Lift the Thera-Bands out to the side while keeping your elbows straight.
Step 3
Return to starting position.
Step 4
Repeat until you complete 12 to 15 repetitions.
Tips and Warnings
- Do not cut Thera-Bands; wrap excess band around your hand. Perform a proper warm up beginning your resistance training exercise routine. Progress to the next level of Thera-Band only when you can perform three sets of 10 to 15 repetitions with ease. Store Thera-Bands out of direct sunlight and away from extreme heat or cold.
- To prevent injury, always examine your exercise tubing for holes before use. Be sure your Thera-Band is anchored or firmly attached before performing an exercise. Refrain from stretching the Thera-Band beyond three times its resting length.
