Herbal Sachets
Placing a sachet containing dried chamomile, lavender, lemon balm, Valerian and catnip under the crib sheets can also be effective as a sleep aid according to holistic pediatrician, Kathi J. Kemper, of Wake Forest School of Medicine. The dried herbs can be placed directly under the crib sheet as well, allowing the movement of the child to stir the herbs as he sleeps.
Chamomile
Chamomile is a herb that has been known worldwide to calm colicky babies, according to Kemper. Colic may oftentimes be the cause of your baby's restlessness. Chamomile can often work to reduce symptoms of diaper rash, chickenpox and poison ivy, which can cause restlessness in your baby. You can use chamomile leaves in your baby's room or mix some chamomile tea in your baby's bottle to relax her. Before using, please consult your baby's pediatrician.
Herbal Massage
Relax your baby by giving him a warm bath and massage with herbal oils before bedtime. According to Johnson & Johnson, the room should warm, around 75 degrees Fahrenheit, because your baby will lose body heat fast. Lay your baby on a blanket and massage slowly with herbal oils, such as lavender.
