Covering your snowboard with stickers allows you to create a customized setup. While the stickering process may seem simple enough, certain tricks will help to ensure success. Improper application will cause the stickers to come off your snowboard after a long day in the terrain park. Try out a few different sticker layouts before applying them to your board.

Choosing Stickers

Choosing the right stickers is an essential part of the customization process. Purchase stickers from your favorite snowboarding companies. Most snowboard and outerwear companies offer stickers in a variety of sizes and shapes. Pick colorful stickers that will stand out against graphics of your snowboard. For a more uniform look, choose stickers that match the color scheme of your snowboard. Pro riders are often encouraged to adorn their snowboards with the stickers of their sponsors.

Cleaning Your Board

Riding on a regular basis will cause the top of your snowboard to accumulate a small amount of dirt and grime. Without a proper cleaning, the adhesive of the stickers will fail to stick to the top of the snowboard. The snowboarding pros at Dog Funk recommend cleaning the top of your snowboard with a household glass cleaner. Wipe off the top of your board with a cotton cloth. Allow the board to dry for 30 minutes before beginning the application process.

Applying the Stickers

Avoid centering the stickers on the tail or nose of your snowboard. Don't bunch all of your stickers together as this will cause your snowboard to look cluttered. Place a few stickers between the bindings of the snowboard. According to 0-21 Snowboarding, certain snowboards may feature a slick top layer that doesn't hold stickers well. To counteract this problem, heat the sticker with a blowdryer to ensure the glue binds to the top of the snowboard.

Adjusting Sticker Size

Snowboarding stickers feature a paper backing that conceals the layer of adhesive. Leave the paper backing on if you want to adjust the size of the sticker before applying it. Avid riders often leave an edge of the sticker hanging off the edge of the snowboard. Cut off the hanging edge of the sticker with a pair of scissors or a utility knife. Avoid striking the snowboard with the blade as this could cause external damage.
