Turkey can be cooked a number of different ways, each with its own suggested style of seasoning. The leg of the turkey can be tough and stringy compared to the tender breast meat, and often times must be seasoned in order to enhance the flavor. How you season your turkey leg really depends on the meal you're preparing and your personal preferences, but the more flavor you put into the leg, the better.
Breaded Turkey Legs
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375 Fahrenheit, and cover the baking sheet in aluminum foil.
Step 2
Place all of the ingredients into a mixing bowl, excluding the egg and water, and mix thoroughly. Once mixed, add the eggs and water into the bowl and whisk everything together until it has softened enough to spread.
Step 3
Place the turkey legs onto the baking sheet, season with salt and pepper and cover them both with the mixture. Place small dabs of butter on both of the legs and cover them tightly in tin foil.
Baked Turkey Legs

Separate the turkey legs from the thighs using a knife.
Step 2
Rub half a lemon over the turkey legs. Discard the lemon.
Step 3
Mix 1 tsp. of salt, 1/2 tsp. of black pepper, 1/4 tsp. of garlic powder, 1/4 tsp. of dried and crumbled thyme together in a mixing bowl.
Step 4
Cover the turkey legs gently with the seasoning mixture.
Tips and Warnings
- Once seasoned, place the legs in the oven and allow them to cook for about an hour or until the meat thermometer reads 180 F in the thickest part of the turkey leg. Allow the turkey legs to cool for about 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
