The P90X Extreme Home Fitness Program is an infomercial workout plan that promises to get you "ripped" in 90 days. To take part in the program, you must exercise daily and follow a three-part nutrition plan. Due to the extreme nature of the program, you may feel exhausted during the first week of exercise.

New to Exercise

If you are new to exercise, you are more likely to feel exhausted during the first week of the extreme workout plan. The P90X plan is not recommended for individuals who are not already fit. If you want to participate in the plan, you should first begin a regular cardio and strength-training workout routine until you reach a higher level of physical fitness.

Time Frame

The amount of time you need to spend exercising could also be the cause of your fatigue. According to the American Council on Exercise, you need to exercise for approximately 60 to 90 minutes daily to take part in the workout program. This may be taxing on your body, especially since you move from exercise to exercise very quickly.

Advanced Exercises

The advanced moves you perform on P90X may cause you to feel tired during the first week on the program. Sample exercises include staggered pushups, pullups, squat leaps, one arm balances and back rows. You change up moves and routines quickly to create "muscle confusion" and get results quickly. The American Council on Exercise warns that the rapid pace of the program can increase your risk of injury.

Diet

Your exhaustion may be a result of the dietary changes that you are making as well as part of the P90X program. During the first week of the plan, you begin following a low-carbohydrate and high-protein eating plan. Low-carbohydrate diets can bring on a condition known as ketosis. Ketosis occurs when your body does not completely break down fat. Side effects may include weakness, nausea and dizziness.
