Cardio kickboxing is an intense form of training that incorporates your entire body, according to the American Council on Exercise. It combines boxing, martial arts and aerobics in a group exercise format for a variety of participants. Turbo Kick is a trademarked form of cardio kickboxing created by Chalene Johnson. It offers certifications for group exercise instructors.

Turbo Kick

Turbo Kick is a specific form of cardio kickboxing. It combines traditional kickboxing moves such as jabs, crosses and front kicks with dance moves choreographed to high-energy music. The format includes intervals of strength with endurance and ends with a cool-down for recovery. Turbo Kick requires no previous kickboxing experience but is a high-intensity form of exercise.

Instructor Training

Turbo Kick instructor training requires you to attend a one-day live workshop with an approved presenter. During the training, you learn the different movements in Turbo Kick and perfect your form and technique. There are written and practical components that evaluate your ability to teach others and perform the routine. You will receive a certificate of completion that is valid for two years as well as seven hours of continuing education credits.

Costs

The cost of the one-day Turbo Kick instructor training is $229, as of May 2011. You may be offered an early-bird rate of $189, if available. Once you have finished the training, you are able to use the Turbo Kick name and music at no additional cost. As an instructor, you save 20 percent on Turbo Kick Rounds and 10 percent on Turbo Kick wear. Turbo Kick Rounds are choreographed classes that you can learn and teach to your own participants.

Considerations

Turbo Kick is a brand and well-known as a fitness session, so it may bring more participants to your classes. Once you have completed the course, the Turbo Kick Rounds save you time on developing your own complete class by providing music and choreography. However, if you are looking for a straight kickboxing certification, this may not be the right fit for you.
