How to Glaze a Pork Roast With Balsamic Vinegar

"Balsamic glazed pork roast" has an elegant ring to it. It sounds like this dish -- a tender pork roast covered in a tangy glaze built around balsamic vinegar -- would take hours to prepare. It is a meal fit for the best dinner parties, but it's easy enough to serve for any weeknight dinner. With only a little preparation, you can can have this savory meal on your table, ready to be enjoyed by even the most discriminating diners. Whether you're feeding a picky food critic or a finicky toddler, chances are balsamic glazed pork roast will satisfy.

Step 1

Place the pork roast in your slow cooker.

Step 2

Mix 1/2 cup barbecue sauce with the honey, balsamic vinegar and seasoning in a bowl. Pour over the pork roast.

Step 3

Place the lid on your slow cooker, and turn the heat to low. Cook for eight to 10 hours or until the pork is very tender and a meat thermometer reads at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit when inserted into the center of the roast.

Step 4

Remove the pork with a large slotted spoon and tongs, and place it on a serving platter. Grasp the sides of the roast with the tongs and support the bottom with the spoon to make removal easier.

Step 5

Mix 2/3 cup barbecue sauce and the flour in a bowl. Add this to the liquid in your slow cooker.

Step 6

Turn the slow cooker to high, and cover.

Step 7

Cook the liquid for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until thickened.

Step 8

Turn off your slow cooker, and spoon or pour the glaze over your pork roast.

  • 1/2 plus 2/3 cups barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tsp. balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp. seasoning blend or seasoned salt
  • Large slotted spoon
  • Tongs
  • Serving platter
  • 1/4 cup flour
