Kona manufactures a variety of mountain bikes, including those used for technical trails and dirt-jumping courses. Kona's full-suspension MTBs feature both front and rear shocks to ensure a smooth ride on backwoods terrain. According to Kona World, the company's signature full-suspension mountain bikes have a lightweight frame made from an aluminum alloy known as 7005. Kona sizes its full-suspension models based on a variety of factors, including seat tube and top tube length. Sit on the Kona mountain bike to test the fit.
Step 1
Extend a measuring tape across the horizontal top tube of the Kona frame. Write down the length of the top tube. Measure the length of the vertical seat tube of the full-suspension frame. Record the measurement as you will need to reference it later.
Step 2
Lift your leg over the frame of the Kona mountain bike to straddle the top tube. Place your feet flat on the floor about shoulder-width apart to measure the stand-over height.
Step 3
Measure the amount of space between your groin and the top tube. Upgrade the size of the Kona seat tube if you measured more than 3 inches of space. Bend your knees to sit on the saddle of the full-suspension mountain bike.
Step 4
Align your feet over the lightweight mountain bike pedals. Lean forward while bending your elbows at a 45-degree angle. Downsize the top tube if you have difficulty holding the handlebar grips.
