Fruit-based desserts are particularly delicious and nutritious during the summer months, when many fruits are in season and taste their best. At the same time, no-bake options keep your home cool and save energy during the warm months of the year. No-bake recipes allow you to skip baking without giving up a delicious dessert.

Fruit Trifle

A trifle includes layers of fruit, cake and a creamy ingredient, such as pudding, yogurt or whipped cream. Buy a frozen pound cake or a fresh-baked angel food cake. Cut the cake into 1-inch chunks. Buy berries and peaches, which work particularly well in a trifle, but other fruits also work well. Stir a few teaspoons of sugar to sweeten cut-up fruit, if necessary. Start with a layer of cake in the bottom of a large, glass bowl. Top the cake with a creamy layer followed by the fruit. Repeat the layers to fill the bowl. End on a fruit layer for a colorful finish.

Strawberry Pie

A graham cracker crust and a tub of strawberry glaze from the store allows you to whip up a fresh strawberry pie without any cooking. Combine 5 cups of hulled strawberries with the prepared strawberry glaze. Pour the strawberries into the graham cracker crust and let it chill in the refrigerator for an hour before you serve it. A dollop of whipped cream on top rounds out the dessert. For added flavor, spread a layer of sweetened cream cheese over the graham cracker crust before adding the strawberries.

Fruity Frozen Yogurt

A carton of frozen yogurt creates the base for this fruity snack. Use about 2 cups of vanilla frozen yogurt for four servings. Soften the yogurt slightly so it is easier to spread. Chop up ginger snaps or sugar cookies for a slight crunch. Slice a variety of fruits, such as bananas, berries and peaches. Layer the frozen yogurt, cookies and fruit in individual bowls or cups. Freeze the frozen yogurt mixture for 15 to 20 minutes so it sets up slightly before serving.

Frozen Watermelon Smoothie

The high water content of watermelon makes it a refreshing snack as is. Turn the bright red melon into a dessert smoothie for an event tastier treat. Cut seedless watermelon into cubes until you have about 3 cups. In a blender, blend the watermelon chunks with 1 cup of frozen berries and a large scoop of sorbet in your favorite flavor. Add a splash of fruit juice for more flavor. Garnish each glass with a fresh berry.
