Health Benefits of Tea

According to Science Daily, research at the time of publication show that tea has antioxidant properties that may help prevent cancer, reduce heart attack risk or atherosclerosis, reduce the inflammation related to arthritis, slows bone cartilage breakdown and may improve memory. Tea also may help lower your body's blood cholesterol levels. Drinking a cup of hot tea also may help you to relax, and it can be used to soothe a sore or scratchy throat.

Green Tea

Gevalia offers several different types of green tea. Green tea has become increasingly popular due to its high content of antioxidants. Antioxidants are powerful vitamins for the body, which help protect its cells from damage from free-radicals and environmental hazards. Antioxidants also have been linked to eye health and cancer and heart disease prevention. Green tea also contains a small amount of caffeine that may cause drinkers to experience a boost of energy.

White Tea

Gevalia's white tea is hand selected during the early months of spring. The white tea leaves mature naturally and do not require any processing. According to Gevalia, the flavor of its white tea is full of subtle notes of honey to be savored to the last drop. White tea is high in antioxidants and is a natural killer of bacteria and viruses. White tea protects against cancer, heart disease, stroke and eases the symptoms of illness, reports White Tea Guide.

Black Tea

There are three different varieties of black teas available from Gevalia. According to Tea Benefits, black tea is a potential heart tonic, cancer blocker, fat buster, immune stimulant, arthritis soother, virus fighter and cholesterol detoxifier, though the National Cancer Institute reports that studies have been inconclusive. Black tea also contains magnesium and vitamin B-1.
