Sliced country ham adds a delicious addition to any meal, including breakfast. You can fry it in a skillet, bake it or just warm up leftovers from the night before. Having your butcher pre-cut a country ham will allow you to use the ham on an as-needed basis, since the average full ham weighs upwards of 30 lbs. or more.

Fry in Skillet

Place the skillet on the stove and turn the heat on Medium. Lay the slice of ham in the skillet and allow it to cook for approximately five minutes.

Lift the edge of the ham up in order to look at the side facing the pan and check for browning. If the ham is brown, flip the slice over and allow the other side to cook for an additional five minutes.

Check for doneness by cutting the slice of ham and making sure the inside is cooked. If done, remove from the heat and serve.

Bake in Oven

Preheat the oven to 350 F to bake a few slices of country ham.

Place the ham slices into the baking dish and cover the dish with foil. Place the dish in the oven and cook for 20 to 30 minutes.

Check for doneness by cutting a slice of the ham and making sure it is cooked inside. Cooked ham will not look raw on the inside.

Microwave

Place leftover sliced country ham in a microwave-safe dish and place in the microwave.

Cover the dish with a paper towel to prevent grease from splattering while cooking.

Cook the ham on High for at least one minute, flip the ham over, and reset the time for an additional minute. After these two minutes, feel the ham to make sure it is warm and serve.
