Even if you plan low-calorie meals to help you lose weight, you can go awry at snack time. It's tempting to munch on cookies at the office, or grab a bag of chips from the corner store. Instead of indulging in junk food, prepare snacks such as the following ones that contain 200 calories or less. They'll help you keep on your diet when temptation strikes.

Apricot Canapes

Eating Well suggests apricot canapes for a combination of sweet and savory flavors. Put dried apricots on a plate and top with crumbled blue cheese, crushed pistachios and a little honey.

Multigrain Soft Pretzels

Soft pretzels make a wholesome snack, according to Reader's Digest. For extra nutrients and flavor, mix wheat germ and rolled oats with the flour. Plan ahead when you make pretzels because they need time to rise before you bake them.

Shrimp-Avocado Nachos

Better Homes and Gardens recommends a variation of traditional nachos. Combine shrimp, avocado and salsa and refrigerate the mixture. Spoon onto tortilla chips for a snack with multiple flavors and textures.

Turkey Rollups

You can prepare turkey rollups for quick snacking, according to Eating Well. Spread honey mustard or mango chutney on slices of deli turkey and wrap each slice around two sesame breadsticks bunched together.

Mini Spinach Calzones

Better Homes and Gardens suggests mini spinach calzones for a hot snack. Cut out squares of pizza dough; add a mixture of spinach, cream cheese and Parmesan cheese; fold into a triangle; and bake until golden brown.

Smoked Salmon Canapes

Snack in style with smoked salmon canapes, Reader's Digest recommends. Toast slices of cocktail rye bread and top with a mixture of smoked salmon, red onion and capers in a mustard-lemon sauce.

Pine Nut Dip

Better Homes and Gardens suggests making a dip in the blender. Combine toasted pine nuts, cannellini beans, herbs and fat-free sour cream. For crunch, scoop up the dip with fresh vegetables and baked pita chips.

Gorp

Mix up gorp, or trail mix, for a light snack, Eating Well recommends. Combine whole almonds, unsalted peanuts and dried cranberries, and sweeten the concoction with pitted dates.

Pizza Bites

If you're looking for finger-food snacks, pizza bites fit the bill, according to Reader's Digest. Form yeast dough into mini pizzas and top them with tomatoes, kalamata olives and fontina and Parmesan cheeses. They only need about 10 minutes baking time.

Vegetable Spring Rolls

Better Homes and Gardens recommends trying Asian-inspired spring rolls. Dip rice paper into water and fill with a mixture of marinated white radish, cucumber, peppers and carrots.
