How to Lose Weight in a Week Diet

Most people think of weight loss as an extended, lengthy process wherein you lose many pounds over the course of several months. However, if you just need to drop a pound or two, you can do so in a week's time by adopting a weight loss diet that helps you shed pounds fast so you can fit in your wedding dress, look especially good at that party or impress people at your high school reunion.

Step 1

Quit eating junk food like chips, cookies, candy, ice cream in your home by tossing them in the trash and not buying any more. Junk food is filled with empty calories, meaning they don't provide your body with nutrition, and merely add to your daily caloric intake. This makes it's difficult to hit that negative calorie position where weight loss occurs and you burn more calories than you consume.

Step 2

Quit eating fast food by avoiding the drive-thru on the way home and never calling the pizza place to order a pie. Fast food is filled with saturated fat, cholesterol and salt and is usually so high in calories that it makes weight loss next to impossible.

Step 3

Add at least a serving of vegetables to every meal. Keep dark leafy greens, carrots, celery and other veggies in your refrigerator so you can easily add them to your meals. These foods provide your body with vital nutrition and make you feel full since they contain mostly fiber and water. Feeling fuller means you'll eat fewer calories, making dropping a few quick pounds easier.

Step 4

Eat a whole piece of fruit or a handful of berries as a snack. They won't add many calories to your daily intake and will satisfy your cravings for something sweet.

Step 5

Drink at least eight 8-oz. glasses of water a day to keep hydrated and to keep your digestive and metabolic systems working properly. You may also wish to drink a glass of water before each meal to fill up your stomach so you'll eat less.
