When you have to lose a ton of weight, it can feel like a daunting task. Especially since you know the road ahead is long. However, you can shed all the weight you need to without having to stress out. Just by making a few changes to how you live your daily life, you can experience dramatic weight loss.
Step 1
See your doctor and come up with a weight loss goal. Before you start a diet or exercise plan, see your doctor to get an evaluation of your health, to test for thyroid conditions and to figure out the best strategy for losing weight. For most people, a moderate exercise plan and a healthy diet that focuses on providing your body with nutrition while cutting calories is the best route.
Step 2
Plan your meals to avoid the fast food temptation. Each meal should be well-balanced and include fresh vegetables or fruits, whole grains, and low-fat dairy. So, for lunch you might have a salad made from dark greens topped with chopped walnuts and a balsamic vinaigrette and a bran muffin on the side. The goal is to make you feel full without loading you up with calories. Planning out your meals will ensure you get enough food and enough nutrition without adhering to bad dietary habits that encourage weight gain.
Step 3
Drink more water each day. Eight 8-oz. glasses is typically recommended. To fit in all of this water, start your day out by drinking a glass, then swap out your other beverages for water at mealtime and with snacks. Doing this ensures you stay hydrated, which is key for maintaining a healthy digestive system and a quick and efficient metabolism. As an added benefit, you can drink a glass of water before each meal to partially fill your stomach so you'll eat less and encourage quicker weight loss.
Step 4
Commit to a 30-minute exercise routine the first thing in the morning. Perform any exercise that gets your heart rate up in the mornings like jogging, biking or swimming. These exercises burn many calories and fat when combined with a low calorie diet. Exercising in the morning has the added benefit of encouraging your metabolism to work faster, as well, meaning you'll burn more calories throughout the day.
