Fat in the thighs is harder to lose because the metabolism of the fat stored in thighs is not as robust. While men tend to store fat in their abdomens, women generally store fat in their thighs, hips and buttocks. Men lose fat faster than women because they have a higher resting metabolic rate that allows them to burn calories faster. Women can lose the weight in their thighs, but it typically takes more time. Reshape your thighs by exercising to burn calories and boost your metabolism.

Step 1

Stand up straight with your feet 6 to 8 inches apart. Bend forward at the waist and grab your right ankle with both hands. Push your chest down toward the floor and hold for 20 seconds. Return to the starting position. Repeat on the left side. Gradually increase the number of repetitions.

Step 2

Kneel on the floor with your knees together. Rotate at the torso and grasp your right ankle with your left hand. Avoid sitting on your ankles. Hold for 20 seconds and return to the starting position. Repeat on the left side. Gradually increase the number of repetitions as your endurance increases.

Step 3

Sit on the floor on front of a chair with a straight back. Place your legs in front of you and put your feet on the sides of the chair. Straighten your back and put your hands on the floor beside you. Grab the legs of the chair with your feet and press against the chair as hard as you can with the soles of your feet. Hold for 50 seconds. Repeat. Increase the number of repetitions gradually.

Step 4

Place 5 to 10 lbs. of weight in a cardboard box. You can use dumbbells, but any item that adds weight to the box is acceptable. Stand behind the box and use the side of your foot to kick the box across the room. Use the other foot to kick the box back across the room. Kick the box about 25 yards with each leg. Increase the distance gradually.

Things You'll Need
