Body wraps are often touted as a weight-loss tool. While you can lose weight while using body wraps, body wraps alone do not cause weight loss. Wraps are also used to remove toxins built up in the body. Regardless of whether wraps can help with weight loss or removing toxins, they are a treatment used in many spas to relax and rejuvenate. Use wraps while following a healthy diet and exercising regularly for maximum results.

Step 1

Eat a balanced diet and reduce your calorie intake by 500 calories per day. Drink eight to 12 8-oz. glasses of water each day so you are well hydrated.

Step 2

Exercise for 30 to 45 minutes each day to burn additional calories. Run, walk, cycle or start an exercise program at a local gym.

Step 3

Take a warm bath and dry your skin thoroughly. Do not use moisturizers or body lotions.

Step 4

Boil 2 cups water in a large pot. Pour 1/4 cup sea salt and allow it to dissolve completely. Stir in 1 cup green or bentonite clay and 2 tbsp. olive oil to make a paste.

Step 5

Rub the clay mixture on your body and wrap yourself with a clean sheet or a thin towel. Wait 45 minutes to an hour. Remove the sheet or towels and take a warm bath or shower to wash off the clay mixture.

Step 6

Drink plenty of water and avoid sugar, caffeine, soda and alcohol for at least 48 hours. Repeat the wrap as often as desired. Continue your diet and exercise routine.
