If your chin has a twin, then it may be time to fight the flab. A double chin can add years to your appearance. Short of facial liposuction, the quickest way to lose a double chin is to lose weight and perform facial exercises. Toning and strengthening the platsyma and mentalis neck muscles can help firm sagging jowl, throat, neck and chin areas.

Chin Tightener

When performed on a daily basis, the chin tightener exercise promises to do what its name implies -- tighten your chin to reduce excess flab. Place the fingertips of your right hand on your neck under your chin at shoulder level. Using a circular motion, move your fingertips to the right and upward until your fingers rest under the right earlobe. Bring your fingers down again in a circular motion to the starting position. Repeat five times, then relax. Use the same technique on the left side. Repeat five times.

Double Chin Reducer

The double chin reducer helps tone and firm the neck and throat, helping to create a slender and more youthful appearance. Bend your head back as far as you can. Contract the muscles in your neck, making them rigid and taut. Close your teeth and clench your jaws until the cords of your neck stand out. Open and close your jaw five times.

Chin Twist

The chin twist is another neck firming exercise that helps your double chin appear leaner. Bend your head back with your teeth closed, jaw clenched. Contract your neck muscles. Raise your head, chin down, to an upright position. Bend your head back again. Turn your head to the right four times and then to the left four times. Do four repetitions.

Kiss Ceiling

According to Annelise Hagan, New York City-based yoga instructor and author of "The Yoga Face," the exercise known as "kiss the ceiling" rates as one of the best jaw, neck and throat firming exercises. While standing, tilt your head back and attempt to kiss the ceiling. Pucker your lips as would when giving a big kiss. Repeat four times.

Shovel

The website DoubleChinExercises.org recommends performing the shovel, an exercise that targets the platysma muscle. You can perform the shovel, otherwise known as the scoop, while working on the computer, watching television or reading a book. Open your mouth wide. Draw your lower lip up and over your bottom row of teeth. Open and close your jaw. Repeat 20 times.
