The WWE, or World Wrestling Entertainment, is a professional wrestling company that operates worldwide. Aside from the standard pinfall or submission match, the WWE stages many specialty matches at different times to help increase fan interest. Many of the specialty or "gimmick" matches are used with the more popular wrestlers on pay-per-view events.
No Disqualification
In a no-disqualification match, participants can partake in any amount of rule breaking without the risk of being disqualified. Wrestlers can use foreign objects, illegal moves, receive help from the outside or fight outside the ring.
Handicap Match
A handicap match typically features one wrestler against two or more opponents. The match can proceed as all the wrestlers in the ring at once, or with one team forming a tag team against a singular opponent. Handicap matches often have one much larger superior wrestler against two lesser skilled wrestlers.
Casket Match
The casket match is a gimmick made especially for the Undertaker character. In the match, a casket is placed beside the ring, and the wrestlers must fight inside the ring until one is unable to continue. The other wrestler must roll the beaten wrestler into the casket and shut the lid to be declared the winner.
Lumberjack Match
The lumberjack is a classic match that features wrestlers surrounding the ring on the outside. Two wrestlers fight a standard match inside the ring, but if one tries to leave the ring or is knocked out, the "lumberjacks" on the outside toss him back in. Quite often, the lumberjacks will deliver some punches and kicks before sending the participant back into the ring.
Steel Cage Match
A cage match is typically billed as a brutal one, due to the fact the ring is surrounded by a huge steel fence. Wrestlers usually ram opponents into the sides of the cage, and a certain degree of bloodletting is not uncommon. The match is won through a pinfall or submission, or when one wrestler is able to escape the ring and place both feet on the floor outside.
Battle Royal
A battle royal is a specialty match that sees the ring full of wrestlers. Typically, 20 wrestlers are in the ring at one time, all trying to throw one another over the top rope. If you are thrown over the top and both your feet touch the floor, you are out of the match. The last wrestler left in the ring is declared the winner.
