Overview
Staying active after delivering a baby is a top priority for most women. Whether it's a walk in the park or training for that first post-pregnancy race, finding a comfortable and supportive sport nursing bra will help you in caring for yourself and your little one.
Although you are no longer carrying a baby, your breast size will not return to the same size it was pre-pregnancy. Mothers who choose to nurse are looking for a bra that offers convenience, comfort and support for low- to hig- impact activities.
What to Look for
What to Look For
When shopping for a sport nursing bra determine the fit before you buy. A properly fitted bra will provide support, comfort and convenience.
Measure your chest. Measuring around the top portion of your chest, above your breasts, with a tape measure, gives you your band size. Band sizes come in even numbers only, so round up an odd measurement. If you measure 33 inches, round up to 34 inches. To find your cup size, bring the tape measure around the fullest part of your breasts, subtract this measurement from your band size to determine the number of inches for your cup size. If the fullest part of your breast measures 38 inches, the difference is 4 inches. Again, if your measurement is between two whole numbers round up. The cup size is determined in increments: if there is a 1-inch difference you are an A cup, if 2 inches a B cup, 3 inches a C cup.
Another factor to consider is the material of the bra. Since you're buying the bra for exercise or sports, a moisture wicking fabric will help keep you dry. A nylon and spandex bra with side panels for ventilation would be an optimal choice. Other options when sport activity is not a priority are polyester, cotton or silk. Second, easy access to nursing. Being able to unhook the cup with one hand is a good sign. Third, consider construction. The wider the shoulder straps, the more the bra helps distribute your breast weight without digging into your shoulders. Reinforced seams provide added support.
Sport nursing bras can vary in price. Prices can start as low as $15 and run as high as $60.

Common Pitfalls
The term "sport nursing bra" might imply the bra is specifically for exercise or sports. However, sport nursing bras can be worn during pregnancy as your breast size increases or even after pregnancy for convenience and comfort when you're nursing.
