The 360 is an elementary snowboarding spin. While novice snowboarders practice the 360 on flat ground, more advanced riders execute the aerial maneuver off inclined launch ramps. In snowboarding, the 360 can be performed in either the frontside or backside variation. According to the New York Times, if you ride with your left foot in the lead position, a frontside spin involves a counterclockwise rotation. Practice the 360 in a low-traffic area to avoid collisions with other riders.
Step 1
Ride to an intermediate snowboarding slope that features a groomed terrain. Glide forward across the snow to attain a comfortable momentum. Bend your knees to compress your riding stance.
Step 2
Extend your arms out to your sides for increased balance. Lean onto your back foot to stand in the takeoff position for the 360 spin. Rotate your shoulders quickly while extending your legs.
Step 3
Leap vertically off your back foot to lift the bottom of the snowboard off the riding terrain. Turn the board 180 degrees before reaching the apex of your jump. Turn your head in the direction of the spin to spot your landing early.
Step 4
Rotate another 180 degrees while keeping the underside of the deck parallel to the snow. Bend your knees as the bottom of the deck touches down. Perform the 360 on flat ground until you can land the maneuver consistently.
