How to Use Almond Bark for Chocolate Frosting

Almond bark is a confectionery product that is sold in solid blocks in the same section of the grocery store as chocolate chips and other baking supplies. The bark comes in vanilla and chocolate flavors and contains no almonds or any other nut products. Its primary use is as a candy coating for rigid confections, such as chocolate-covered pretzels. You can also make it into a spreadable chocolate frosting for softer products, such as cakes.

Step 1

Break or cut the almond bark into small pieces and put them in the sauce pan. Turn the sauce pan to the lowest setting and melt the bark, stirring often.

Step 2

Turn off the heat and stir the dark chocolate syrup into the melted bark. Let the mixture cool.

Step 3

Mix the butter and powdered sugar in a bowl. Whisk the mixture until it is light and fluffy.

Step 4

Whisk the melted chocolate into the sugar and butter mixture a little at a time. Continue whisking the mixture until it is smooth.

Step 5

Use the frosting immediately or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Let it warm to room temperature before use.
