You are likely familiar with vitamin C and the various reasons why people take it, because vitamin C is one of the more widely discussed and promoted vitamins. According to Dr. James L. Wilson, vitamin C is the most important vitamin in assisting the adrenal glands. It is best to work with a health practitioner who can advise you on taking vitamin C and other nutritional supplements for your adrenal glands. Generally, holistic and natural practitioners have more expertise and knowledge at diagnosing and treating adrenal gland issues.

Definitions

The adrenal glands are part of the endocrine system and are located in the lower back area, above the kidneys. They produce stress hormones and manage all of the body's stress, and can become fatigued when stress is unrelenting and chronic over time. They concentrate high amounts of vitamin C.

Vitamin C

Various forms of vitamin C exist, including food-based and synthetic ones. Vitamin C is also available in tablet and powder form. People with adrenal fatigue could consider taking powdered vitamin C in water or a small amount of juice, because people with adrenal fatigue often have digestive challenges, and powdered form can be more easily digested.

Advantages

Vitamin C provides numerous advantages and benefits to the adrenal glands and overall health. It helps the human body recover from adrenal fatigue, and it boosts the immune system and provides overall increased resilience. When under stress, a person's body uses up much more vitamin C and more rapidly. Taking vitamin C helps to replenish lost vitamin C under such circumstances.

Dosage

Your health practitioner can advise you on how much vitamin C you should take, but generally you will need higher dosages of vitamin C if you have adrenal fatigue than if your adrenal glands are healthy and normal. People with adrenal fatigue might need amounts ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 mg or more per day. Children generally need lower amounts of vitamin C for their adrenal glands than adults do.
