Bread is a staple food for many countries and people and is a symbol of sustenance: The term "bread and butter," for example, refers to someone's main way of generating income. Bread can be made from either different grains or a single grain and is a good source of fiber. Unfortunately, bread can also go stale quickly, especially when left out in open air. But there is a way to salvage hard, stale bread that can be done in a few minutes.

Step 1

Set the oven temperature to about 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2

Moisten a towel to dampness. Make sure the towel is not too wet that it is dripping water. A good way to get the right consistency is to soak the towel with water and wring it out thoroughly. A paper bag may also be used in place of a towel. Just wet the bag with water. It is okay for the entire bag to get wet, but not to the point that it can easily tear.

Step 3

Wrap the bread in the towel or place it in the paper bag. Set this inside the oven for about 10 minutes. The bread should emerge soft and warm.

Tips and Warnings

  • The same method can be used with a microwave on high for around 10 seconds.
