How to Cook a Frozen Beef Patty Thoroughly

Frozen beef patties provide a convenient option when preparing hamburgers, whether you purchase them premade or shape and freeze them yourself. You can make the meal on the fly because there's no need to thaw the patties before cooking and serving them. Cooking ground beef from frozen does require more time on the stove or grill so it cooks to a safe temperature. Don't try to speed up the process by turning up the flame, or the outside of the patties burn while the inside stays undercooked.

Step 1

Lightly oil a skillet with your preferred cooking oil.

Step 2

Heat the skillet on the stove top over medium heat until the oil begins to sizzle slightly.

Step 3

Place the frozen patties in the skillet, leaving 1 inch of space between them. Sprinkle the patties with salt and pepper, if desired.

Step 4

Cook the patties until their bottoms turn brown. Flip the patties over and cook them for 10 minutes on the other side, or until they brown.

Step 5

Check the internal temperature of the patties with a meat thermometer. Remove them from the heat when the internal temperature reaches the safe minimum of 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
