For many Americans, turkey is the preferred meal during Christmas and Thanksgiving. It is a tradition to sit down and feast on a turkey dinner. Aside from its taste and flavor, this bird is also a good source of iron, B vitamins, potassium, zinc and phosphorus. If you are looking for a nice presentation for your turkey dish, the turkey breast crown -- a whole turkey with the legs and wings removed -- is one of the best. Enjoy a tasty, royal meal with your family and friends any time of the year.
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2
Mix the butter, sage and lemon zest in a bowl. Slide your fingers between the skin and the breast of the turkey, loosen the skin at the neck end, and stuff the mixture under the skin as uniformly as possible.
Step 3
Lay the lemon slices on the bottom of the roasting pan. Place the turkey crown on top of them, and add the white wine.
Step 4
Score each onion around the middle with a sharp knife, and push a thyme sprig into it. Place the onions around the turkey.
Step 5
Place the roasting pan in the oven and roast for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours, or until the turkey crown has cooked through. To test this, pierce the thickest part of the meat to the bone with a skewer. The juices that run out must be clear.
Step 6
Place the roasted turkey breast crown on a serving plate, along with the onions. Cover the plate with foil and a towel, and let it cool for 30 minutes.
