6 Week Body Makeover Diet Plan

Losing weight can be a frustrating process, often taking you down many different dieting paths. Finding the right plan is sometimes difficult; your friend swears by the low-carb diet while your mother has success with meal-replacement shakes. The bottom line is this: there is no "one diet fits all," the basic principle of the 6 Week Body Makeover Diet.

The Creator

Michael Thurmond developed the 6 Week Body Makeover Diet more than 15 years ago. An overweight child himself, Thurmond gained control of his weight, dedicating his life to educating others about fitness and nutrition. He was an adviser for the television show "Extreme Makeover" because of his body blueprinting technique -- the driving force behind the 6 Week Body Makeover Diet.

Body Blueprinting

Your body reacts differently to food based upon your body type and metabolism, explains the 6 Week Body Makeover website. Body blueprinting, the first step of the 6 Week Body Makeover Diet, helps determine your body and metabolism type, enabling you to devise the most effective eating plan to rev up your metabolism and keep it running at high speed.

Exercise

Exercise is an essential aspect of any diet, and this diet is no different. What sets the 6 Week Body Makeover apart from the rest is the amount and type of exercises you perform. Your personal blueprint determines your trouble areas and creates a personalized exercise program to sculpt your body. Eighteen minutes a day, two days a week is all that's required for you to see results. Thurmond explains that the basic cardio exercise is walking, a low-impact exercise that works well for most people with injuries or people who feel they are too overweight to exercise.

The Plan

The 6 Week Body Makeover gives you an eating plan for each meal depending on your body and metabolism type. The food you eat varies according to these variables. The secret to weight loss is eating the right foods in the right combination at the right times of day. Once you complete the body blueprinting, this information is revealed to you. As of June 2011, the cost of the program is $369.98, but you can pay $19.99 for six weeks, according to the official website.

Results

The claims of the diet is a weight loss of up to 30 lbs. in six weeks, but results vary for each individual. Adherence to the program is the No. 1 factor, however, your body composition and amount of weight you need to lose are additional factors. You can remain on the diet until you reach your weight loss goals, but before beginning any diet consult your physician.
