Adding broccoli to white pizza, typically made with not-so-healthy alfredo sauce, kicks the healthy quotient up a bit. Before you add broccoli to the pizza, you must prepare it first, if you want soft-textured pizza toppings. While you can add it fresh, it's crunchy and usually not as appealing alongside the melted gooey cheese, sauce and soft pizza crust.
Step 1
Wash the broccoli heads under running water. Wipe them dry with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel.
Step 2
Cut off the broccoli florets from the stalks with a sharp, clean knife. Discard the stalks.
Step 3
Place the broccoli florets in a medium size skillet set on a stove top burner set to medium heat.
Step 4
Pour 1/3 cup water -- or just enough water to coat the bottom -- into the skillet.
Step 5
Cover the skillet with its lid.
Step 6
Steam the broccoli for about four minutes, or until it is tender.
Step 7
Drain the broccoli before adding it to your pizza.
