There are two times that you can use two hands for arm wrestling. The first is when your opponent allows you to use two hands to compensate for a large discrepancy in strength. This helps to even matches between friends who have large differences in size or strength. The other time two hands are used is to give you an edge in unsanctioned matches where hand positioning is not monitored. The use of two hands allows you to utilize more force and muscles.
Full Two Hands
Step 1
Place your right elbow on the table and grasp your opponent's right hand.
Step 2
Position your left hand over the top of your right hand and your opponent's right hand.
Step 3
Wait for the "Go" command.
Step 4
Turn your right hand so you are trying to rotate your opponent's right hand toward the table. This will mainly utilize the muscles in your biceps.
Step 5
Pull your left hand down toward the table. This will allow you to activate your biceps and your back muscles on the left side of your body.
Step 6
Continue rotating your right forearm and pulling down with your left hand until your opponent's knuckles touch the table.
Advanced Technique
Step 1
Place your right elbow on the table and grab your opponent's right hand.
Step 2
Position your left elbow and forearm on the table so your left hand crosses over your right bicep.
Step 3
Grab the outside portion of your right elbow and bicep with your left hand.
Step 4
Wait for the "Go" signal.
Step 5
Turn your right arm downward and try to move your opponent's right hand toward the table.
Step 6
Pull your right elbow and forearm with your left hand to help assist your right arm.
Step 7
Continue turning your right arm and pulling with your left hand until your opponent's knuckles touch the table.
Tips and Warnings
- Make sure to continue breathing in an arm wrestling competition. Holding your breath will decrease the oxygen available to your muscles.
- If you are losing a contest with the two-handed technique, try to stall by just preventing movement of your arm. It takes less strength to hold a position than to progress your opponent's hand toward the table. Since you are using two arms, you can normally fatigue the opponent, so you can win if you wait long enough. Also, note that some people think the advanced technique is cheating. Make sure the rules are clear before the match before utilizing the advanced technique.
