Leaving your snowboard unattended or untethered to your body on the mountain slope may cause it to uncontrollably fly down the ski hill. If your snowboard accidentally hits another rider, the sharpened edges can cause painful cuts or lacerations. To avoid possible injury, keep your snowboard in a secure, stationary position while fastening your boots into the bindings. For extra protection, use an athletic leash to prevent your snowboard from sliding out of reach down the mountain.
Step 1
Put on a pair of snowboarding gloves to avoid cutting your hands on the sharpened edges of the board.
Step 2
Grip the bindings of your snowboard and place it horizontally on the slope. Rotate the snowboard until the metallic edges sit parallel to the slope.
Step 3
Wrap your gloved hands around the top edge of the snowboard. Apply downward pressure to force the bottom edge of the board into the snow. Push until the snowboard is securely wedged in the snow.
Step 4
Sit behind the snowboard with your legs extended forward. Slide your dominant boot into the foot-bed of the corresponding binding. Fasten the binding's retention straps around your boot.
Step 5
Place your opposing boot into the correlating binding of the snowboard. Align the retention straps of the binding around your boot. Tighten the straps to prevent your snowboard from sliding down the hill.
Tips and Warnings
- Connect a leash between your boot and its binding for added precaution against slippage.
