Cornstarch, ginger and soy sauce are the main ingredients combined to saturate chicken for dishes such as General Tso's chicken. This popular Hunan dish is a staple at many Asian restaurants. The chicken is usually marinated in the seasoning and can be sautéed, baked, grilled or stir-fried. The chicken can be served over steamed white rice, stir-fried vegetables and noodles, or enjoyed alone as a side dish. All of the ingredients used are readily available at your local grocery store.

Step 1

Combine the cornstarch and soy sauce in a bowl. Chop the ginger root finely; add to marinade. Depending on what dish you are going to make, measure the ingredients carefully.

Step 2

Clean your chicken and cut off any fat. If you are making General Tso's chicken, cut the chicken into cubes.

Step 3

Place chicken in the cornstarch, ginger and soy sauce marinade in a plastic zip-top bag in the refrigerator. To saturate chicken, allow it to soak for at least 20 to 30 minutes in the marinade.

Step 4

Cook marinated chicken in a skillet, on the grill or in the oven. Be sure that the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
