Fruits in plain gelatin can be a delicious and healthy dessert. Gelatin is made up of mostly protein and is low in calories. Sliced fresh fruits, such as strawberries and bananas, can be added in plain gelatin. Sugar or fruit juice can also be added to the plain gelatin, depending on your taste preferences and how sweet you want your dessert to be. Plain gelatin can be found in granular form at your local grocery store.

Step 1

Fill a bowl with 1/4 cup of cold water, and sprinkle the granular gelatin in the water. Let stand for one minute and do not stir. This allows the gelatin to absorb the water and be ready for boiling.

Step 2

Boil 1/3 cup of water in a separate pot. Add the gelatin mixture and the sugar to the boiling water.

Step 3

Reduce heat and stir until completely dissolved. Stir in the pineapple juice.

Step 4

Pour into a bowl and refrigerate for two hours or until gelatin is partially set.

Step 5

Add strawberries and bananas to the gelatin, and transfer it all to your gelatin mold. Return the gelatin mold to the refrigerator until completely set, usually about two additional hours.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 package plain gelatin
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup strawberries, rinsed and cut in small pieces
  • 2 bananas, cut
  • Gelatin mold
