A chocolate pudding pie is a simple yet delicious dessert option that appeals to both children and adults. Use boxed pudding mix or homemade pudding as the filler for the pie. Add stir-ins, change the crust ingredients and use toppings to dress up a plain chocolate pie. Choose ingredients that will turn the homey treat into an elegant dessert fit for guests.

Step 1

Chop toasted nuts or use toasted coconut in the crust. Mix the nuts or coconut in with the graham crackers and butter before pressing the crumbs into the pie pan. Continue preparing the crust as directed in the recipe.

Step 2

Spread a layer of hot fudge or caramel sauce over the crust before adding the pudding.

Step 3

For an less-dense pie, stir 1 cup of whipped cream in with the prepared pudding before placing it into the pie crust. Stir the two ingredients just until they are combined.

Step 4

Add crushed chocolate cookies, toffee bits or miniature chocolate chips in the pudding. Stir the mix-ins and pudding so they are distributed evenly.

Step 5

Spread a layer of whipped topping on top of the pudding layer inside the pie crust. Drizzle the whipped topping with chocolate or caramel sauce.

Step 6

Garnish the top of the pie with raspberries, toasted nuts, sprinkles, crushed peppermint, toasted coconut or chocolate shavings.
