Going to a physician's office for a hair removal procedure can be costly, price ranges being in the thousands. In 2008 the FDA approved a new product to save time and money with at home laser hair removal. The two top rated products for at home removal today are the SilkN and TRIA. Both systems emit pulses of high intensity light to kill hair follicles, and end hair growth in the treated area. Both systems boast a 50 to 70 percent reduction in hair growth after months of continued use. Using these products is claimed faster and cheaper than going to a physician.
Step 1
Shave and towel dry your skin before using your laser hair removal device. It is important that your skin be clear of all bacteria to reduce risk of infected hair follicles and it also removes dead skin cells that could inhibit the effectiveness of your at home laser treatment.
Step 2
Press the included skin sensor to the area you want to treat and press the blue button until the light turns green. This will determine skin pigmentation, and is a very important step used to unlock your device.
Step 3
Sit somewhere where you will be comfortable and choose your intensity level. Press the blue button once for level 1 also known as low, twice for level 2 or medium, or thrice for level 3 or high. In order to receive optimum benefits it is not necessary to set the level to high and the first use should always be the lower setting to avoid burns and scarring.
Step 4
Press the tip of the device to your treatment area and wait for a beep. Once you hear the beep, move your device slightly overlapping the previous area and repeat the process. A beep indicates that the pulse was successful in disabling the hair follicle however a buzzing sound is emitted when the attempt has failed and therefore you should try again.
Step 5
Repeat treatments once every other week for up to three months and then switch to monthly treatments for the next five months. At first you may not see many results but after approximately three months you should notice a decrease in hair growth.
