Coenzyme 10 boosts your energy levels and immune system. Coenzyme 10 also functions as an antioxidant and helps your body neutralize the effects of free radicals. Coenzyme 10 also can cause dizziness.

Uses

Coenzyme 10 can be used for a number of things, including the prevention of heart disease, the University of Maryland Medical Center explains. Coenzyme 10 can prevent blood clots from forming. Coenzyme 10 can also be used to lower blood pressure after four to 12 weeks of use. Coenzyme 10 can alleviate the muscle pains caused by cholesterol medications called statins. Coenzyme 10 can also help manage blood sugar levels in diabetics.

Lowers Blood Sugar

Coenzyme 10 lowers your blood sugar levels, causing hypoglycemia, MayoClinic.com explains. Coenzyme 10 can increase the effect of diabetic medication that is meant to lower blood sugar. Hypoglycemia can cause dizziness. If you are diabetic, you should seek medical advice before taking coenzyme 10 supplements to avoid this adverse reaction.

Affects Blood Pressure

Numerous clinical studies have shown that coenzyme 10 lowers blood pressure, the University of Maryland Medical Center notes. Coenzyme 10 can also lower blood pressure to the point that it can cause dizziness because your brain is not getting properly oxygenated. Other Side Effects and Safety Concerns

You may experience breathing difficulties due to coenzyme 10 supplement use. You may also experience nausea and stomach upset due to coenzyme 10, MedlinePlus says. Appetite loss, diarrhea and vomiting may also occur as a result of coenzyme 10 use. Coenzyme 10 may also impair the efficacy of cancer medication. Blood pressure medications such as captopril, losartan, Amlodipine and furosemide can interact with coenzyme 10. Coenzyme 10 can also impair the effects of anticoagulant medication such as warfarin and increase the risk of causing dangerous blood clots in your blood vessels.
