Roche Brothers' turkeys come from the all-natural Plainville Farms and are raised humanely and free of antibiotics. Additionally, the Plainville Farms turkeys maintain a diet of only pure corn, soybeans, and well water. These turkeys are known to maintain their tenderness and flavor after cooking. Specific cooking instructions for the Plainville Farms turkeys are similar to general cooking instructions for turkeys.
Step 1
Defrost your turkey by placing it in the refrigerator for 24 hours for every 7 lbs. of the turkey's weight. A large turkey may take several days to defrost in the refrigerator. Keep the turkey in its bag during the defrosting period.
Step 2
Set the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 3
Remove the neck and giblets from the breast and neck cavities.
Step 4
Rinse the inside and outside of the turkey with water, and place turkey into the pan.
Step 5
Add 1 cup of water to the pan and loosely cover it with the aluminum foil.
Step 6
Place the turkey into the oven and roast it for one hour less than the recommended time. Refer to the recommended weight and cooking time chart on the turkey package.
Step 7
Remove the turkey from the oven and remove the aluminum foil in order to brown the turkey.
Step 8
Place turkey back into the oven and periodically check the internal temperature of the turkey with a meat thermometer by inserting the thermometer two-thirds of the way into the thickest part of the breast.
Step 9
Remove the turkey from the oven once the meat thermometer reads 175 degrees Fahrenheit. The turkey's juices should be clear and not pink.
Step 10
Cover the turkey once again with aluminum foil and let it stand for approximately 15 minutes.
Tips and Warnings
- Before roasting, lightly rub the outside of the turkey with a mix of 1/2 cup of melted butter, 1/8 tsp. of salt and 1/16 tsp. of pepper for more flavor.
- Plainville Farms does not recommend stuffing the turkey due to food safety reasons.
