Advanced snowboarders have the ability to execute a multitude of spinning tricks that often involve grabbing the edges of the board. The 360 is an elementary snowboarding trick that you can practice on a mellow slope made for beginners. The snowboarding 360 has two different variations known as frontside and backside. If you snowboard with your right foot in the lead position, a backside 360 will rotate in a counterclockwise motion. Regardless of the variation you prefer, the technique will be the same.

Step 1

Choose a low-traffic area on the snowboarding slope to practice the 360 spin. Ride forward with your knees bent until you reach a comfortable momentum. Transfer your body weight onto the heel-edge of the snowboard when preparing for a frontside 360.

Step 2

Shift your body weight onto the toe-edge of the snowboard if you prefer to execute a backside 360 spin. Lean back until the tail of the snowboard bends. Straighten your legs to jump vertically off your back foot.

Step 3

Rotate your shoulders quickly while swinging your arms in the direction of the spin. Lift your knees as high as you can to increase the airtime of your jump. Lower your eyes to the snow as you complete the first 180 degree rotation.

Step 4

Keep the underside of the snowboard parallel to the ground as you complete the second 180 degree spin. Bend your knees as your snowboard touches down onto the snow. Practice the 360 on flat ground before taking it to inclined ramps and box jumps.
