Chicken is a domesticated fowl that can be found around the world. The meat of chicken is lean, white and cooked in a number of ways. Fried chicken is a widely-consumed form of chicken, as is baked or grilled chicken, the latter being two of the healthier ways to prepare chicken. Whether whole or in pieces, roasting of chicken is done in a pan specifically designed for oven use and takes under an hour.

Step 1

Thaw the chicken breasts if they are still frozen. Thaw them overnight in the refrigerator or under lukewarm water for about one hour.

Step 2

Determine the seasonings to be used on the chicken breasts. There are many ingredients that can be incorporated into roasted chicken breasts and a specific recipe would have to be determined by the cook. The quantity of seasonings will depend on the amount of chicken being roasted. Places to look are cookbooks or websites that deal with recipes and that are most likely have some recommendations for chicken breasts.

Step 3

Rinse the breasts in cold water and season to taste and pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 4

Place the roasting rack in the roasting pan and set the breasts on the rack, spacing them so that they do not touch each other. Cover the pan with the lid, or aluminum foil if the pan does not have one. Set the pan in the oven and roast the chicken for 30 to 40 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to check for a reading of 165 degrees Fahrenheit -- the temperature of fully cooked chicken -- around the 30-minute mark. Remove the pan with a pair of oven mitts when the chicken is fully cooked.
