Celebrity diets are common as methods of weight-loss for everyday people. With the vast number of celebrities following a diet and shape-up plan however, it can be difficult to determine which plans are most effective. Rather, it is based on a points system where the dieter must stay within a certain number of points, or calories, for the day. Points values given are based on an individuals' height, weight, age, sex and activity levels, as well as the nutrient content of the food. Weight Watchers also offers a support system through group meetings and online forums.
The Master Cleanse
The Master Cleanse, also known also the Lemonade Diet, was most notably followed by Beyonce Knowles, who lost 20 lbs. using it in preparation for her 2006 role in "Dreamgirls." The diet is designed to cleanse the body of toxins and waste products that may contribute to weight gain and slowed digestion. The plan involves the consumption of only a drink that is made of water, lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper for about 14 days. Although this diet is effective, it primarily causes loss of water weight initially and is too low in calories and essential nutrients. Use this diet only with strict medical supervision.
Nutri-System
Nutri-System is a celebrity diet that helped Marie Osmond to lose more than 50 lbs. In addition to a regular exercise regimen, Osmond credits the diet program for her weight-loss and is currently its spokesperson. Similar to Jenny Craig, pre-packaged meals are provided for dieters to aid in learning portion control while eating foods that are slow-digesting to prevent hunger cravings. Dieters may pick up meals at a local store or have them delivered. Preparing meals at home is also an option once dieters learn to eat more healthy for weight-loss.
