Symmetry Direct offers a variety of nutritional and weight loss supplements which are sold on a commission basis through individual home-based businesses. Symmetry Direct was founded in May 1995 by Rudy Revak and the company is headquartered in Austin, Texas. Symmetry products include botanicals, nutraceuticals, water systems and household products. Symmetry's weight-loss product line includes the WOW Smoothie, a meal replacement fortified with vitamins and minerals, and its nutritional supplements products include Genesis with X-Tranol 24, an antioxidant energy supplement.
Calories
Symmetry offers the smoothie meal replacement product WOW, or Weight Loss and Optimal Wellness. The product directions indicate it is used twice a day in place of two regular meals. One 8 oz. packet of WOW has 70 calories. If you replace two meals with WOW, the smoothies provide a total of 140 calories. Symmetry's antioxidant energy supplement Genesis with Tranol-X 24 is an addition to your diet that isn't meant to replace a meal. A 2 tbsp. dose, or 1 oz., of Genesis supplement contains 15 calories.
Fat
Symmetry's WOW meal replacement smoothie provides some fat to your diet; one 8 oz. packet has 1 g of total fat. There is no fat in Symmetry's Genesis with Tranol-X 24. MayoClinic.com advises that 20 to 35 percent of your total calories should include fats from healthy sources, including polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat. You do require some fat every day, even when you are dieting, because it is needed for several important functions, including keeping your immune system working effectively and maintaining the integrity of cell membranes.
Carbohydrates and Protein
As your body's main source of energy, carbohydrates should account for 45 to 65 percent of the calories in your diet and protein should account for 10 to 35 percent of calories says MayoClinic.com. Having an 8 oz. WOW meal replacement smoothie twice daily provides you with 10 g of carbohydrates and 20 g of protein. An article in the November 2004 issue of "American Family Physician" warns that most weight-loss supplements result in only modest weight loss and no weight loss supplements have met criteria that would recommend their use. Symmetry's Genesis withTranol-X 24 supplement has 4 g of carbohydrates in 2 tbsp.
Sodium
It's important that your daily diet includes a small amount of sodium, which your body does not manufacture and is needed to maintain your fluids and blood pressure. MayoClinic.com recommends having no more than 2,300 mg of sodium per day in your diet. You do need some sodium in your diet even while trying to lose weight. Replacing two meals with two 8 oz. packets of Symmetry's WOW smoothie provides you with 180 mg of sodium. A 2 tbsp. dose of Genesis with Tranol-X 24 contains no sodium.
