If you want glowing skin, you need to do more than just wash your face twice a day. You need to be kind to your skin from the inside out. This means maintaining a healthy diet that offers your skin plenty of nutrients to maintain a flawless and lustrous appearance.

Soy, Fish, and Flax

If you want to improve the appearance of your skin, stock up on foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, says "The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition." Examples include fish like tuna and salmon, flax seeds, and soy-based products like tofu and soy milk. Omega-3 fatty acids keep your skin moisturized, prevent wrinkles, and help to ease the symptoms of eczema and psoriasis.

Legumes and Leafy Greens

To further achieve a glowing face, you need to make sure you're getting enough vitamin E. This fat-soluble vitamin prevents sun damage and helps to keep wrinkles away, according to the "Journal of the American College of Nutrition." Foods to add to your diet with vitamin E include dark green veggies, oatmeal, sunflower seeds and legumes.

Berries and Other Fruits

You also need to eat plenty of vitamin C-rich foods to get a radiant complexion. According to the "Journal of the American College of Nutrition," vitamin C is an antioxidant and it helps to prevent the signs of aging and repairs damaged tissue. Berries like blueberries, strawberries, and cranberries along with citrus fruits, are the best choices for vitamin C.

Milk and Yogurt

Vitamin A is essential for healthy skin, and it is commonly found in dairy products such as yogurt, milk, and cheese. Vitamin A is included in many skin care products as well, but as a nutrient, it can prevent sun damage, aging, and aid in tissue repair, says the "Journal of the American College of Nutrition."
