Mixing cool, creamy ice cream with fruit juice results in a smoothie that is decadent and nutritious containing fiber, vitamins and minerals. Though smoothies with juice and ice cream contain important nutrients, the ice cream will add quite a bit of sugar and saturated fat, so keeping your portions in check by consuming only 1/2-cup serving at a time can help you enjoy smoothies without ruining your healthy eating plan, or your waistline. You can easily modify any smoothie recipe to include ice cream and juice, or whatever ingredients you prefer.
Step 1
Scoop ½ cup of vanilla ice cream into a blender. Substitute vanilla for another flavor if you desire.
Step 2
Pour 1 cup of juice into the blender, such as orange or apple juice.
Step 3
Place three ice cubes into the blender.
Step 4
Mix all of the ingredients until smooth and then pour into tall glasses, or milkshake glasses, and serve immediately.
Tips and Warnings
- Increase the nutritional value of your smoothie by adding fresh fruit, such as blueberries, raspberries or strawberries, along with the fruit juice and ice cream. Add 1 tbsp. of vanilla whey protein powder, if you would like to increase the protein content of your smoothie.
